Mommy's Turn

Ok, so Patrick had his say. Now I'll give you the scoop on our little guy. Patrick is an amazing little dude. Ryan and I are having so much fun with him. He has the greatest little smile and is a pretty happy baby most of the time.
He loves watching ceiling fans and adores his Daddy. He's been doing some major growing in the last week or s0 - I swear, the kid doubled in size practically over night. (Ok, so that's an exaggeration, but it feels like it!) I cried when I had to pack up his newborn clothes, my little man is growing up.

He's a really great sleeper and can sleep through anything, even his Dad's snoring. He's a great eater and is very strong. I can't wait to go to the doctor next week and see how much he's grown. I think it might be time for shots though, and I'm dreading that.

At Patrick's request and Jenny S's encouragement, I'm going to try to set aside some time to update this at least each week. When we move in here in just a few weeks I could have some trouble with internet access, but I'll do my best. Here are a few of my favorite pictures for now:

Hello Everyone!

Hello everybody, my name is Patrick.
My mommy normally takes care of the blog posts, but she has been VERY slow getting this done, so I just decided to step up and take care of it. (Yes, I'm computer literate at 7 weeks...but the typing is hard with these tiny little hands!)
My first 7 weeks of life have been quite an adventure. Here's a recap.
I started out by arriving 3 weeks early. Unfortunately, that meant I had a little bit or jaundice to deal with. I ended up chillin' in the nursery for a few extra days, gettin' a funky suntan: Mommy and Daddy got to stay down the hall so they could be close to me. Mommy got to stay in her bed, but poor daddy had to sleep on this super comfy couch for the week: After I got a bit less yellow, Mommy and Daddy got to take me home...

where I could relax and play with my feline brothers and sisters:

After just a few days at home, I realized just how silly my Daddy and Mommy can be. Like the day they put me in a silly hat:

Or the day Grandpa P, Mommy, and Daddy wanted to find out how much I weighed and improvised a baby scale with a tile, a bowl, and a kitchen scale:

I also found out that my Daddy is working very hard to build me a house. They took me to see it right away and I got to hang out in my room:

Because of the new house, I also got to take my first trip to Home Depot when I was just a few days old and got to take many trips to Menards. Mommy couldn't resist taking a picture of my first Menards trip. Apparently she and Daddy shop there a bunch and find this to be a big occasion. I told you these people are weird. Here is my Daddy carrying me into Menards:

I also got to take my first trip out of Illinois when I was less than a month old to go to Wisconsin. (Where my Daddy was born!!) We were celebrating Great Aunt Gail and Great Uncle Don's 50th wedding anniversary. How cool is that? I got to meet all of my Great Aunt Gail and Great Uncle Don's family- there are a lot of them! It was a very fun party.

Since it was a special occasion, I had to wear a collared shirt (which Daddy promptly flipped up). I was wearing great plaid shorts too, but it turns out I was born without much of a butt, and even with diapers, they wouldn't stay on.

The best part was we got to see almost all of Daddy's family - I even got to meet my Uncle Dan and cousin Daniel from California. I missed seeing my Aunt Suzy and cousin Emily, but hopefully we'll get to see them very soon. I can't wait for my new cousin to be here! Here's my family on Daddy's side:

Other than that adventure, I mostly get to spend a lot of time at the new house Daddy is building - it is a very cool place and I can't wait to get moved in. Because of something silly called the "economy" my daddy got to stay home from work for two weeks, so we spent a lot of time working at the new house. I have a pack n play out there, and I love to be part of the action. My Grandpas have been working very hard to get my house ready for me to move into, and I'm so grateful for that. My Uncle Don put a ton of work into the house too, thank you Uncle Don. Uncle Luke and my Grandmas have also been a great help. My Mommy tells me all the time how blessed we are to have such a wonderful family. I wonder how I got so lucky to have these people as my relatives?

That's about all I can think of for now, and I'm starting to get hungry. I think I'm going to start letting Mommy know that I want some food. I'll make sure to let Mommy know that she has to be better about updating the blog. I think she'll listen to me, I'm kinda the boss around here now!! Love, Patrick
